Environmentally aware consumers are demanding that the cleaning products they buy are not only effective but also sustainably sourced from renewable bio-based feedstocks. But bio-based cleaning ingredients are not always as effective and are often more expensive than synthetic alternatives.
In this webinar, we will discuss what bio-based ingredients are already being used in cleaning products and what is being done to improve their effectiveness.
Register now and join us for a timely discussion about:
- Cleaning Products; their uses and composition
- Cleaning chemical feedstocks from sugar and biomass
- Sustainable surfactants, courtesy of palm trees, corn starch and honey bees
- Builders from renewable resources
- Enzymes, nature's own cleaners. Will they replace other cleaning ingredients?
- The future
Who should attend?
- Consumers and Retailers interested to know what cleaners contain and the true meaning of advertising slogans such as "Contains Natural Products".
- Detergent Manufacturers who need to know how their products should be developed.
- Raw Material Suppliers to understand how the industry is developing and what ingredients they should supply in the future
- University Researchers to help them identify areas for future investigation.

More about Peter Smallwood, PhD:
For a number of years he studied the suspension and emulsion polymerisation of vinyl chloride and the manufacture and processing of PVC. He was involved in the industrial scale emulsion polymerisation of vinyl lattices and their formulation and use in various specialist barrier coatings. The performance of surfactants and polymers formed an important part of this work. While this work was based in the UK it involved spells working in the USA, Germany, Switzerland and Japan.
Chemical Associates has continued to provide support for the global PVC and coatings industries and has developed a number of personal care formulations including one for use by Olympic athletes. Our clients are based in the UK, USA, Continental Europe and the Middle East.
Peter has written a number of reviews on the technology and market prospects for detergent and cleaning products, for IntertechPira. These pay particular attention to minimising their environmental impact by reducing laundry wash temperatures, reducing the consumption of water and the use of renewable ingredients.
